One of the largest known submarine landslides, at the edge of Norway's continental shelf in the Norwegian Sea about 6225 to 6170 BCE. The collapse involved about 290 kilometers of coastal shelf and 3,500 cubic kilometers of debris, generating a paleotsunami across the North Atlantic that struck Scotland as far as 29 kilometers inland, and it is a key reference point in the study of submarine landslides and prehistoric tsunami hazards.
